Chris Long
After growing up on a farm near Bethany, Missouri and graduating from Missouri Western State University, with a B.S. in Business Administration, Chris moved to Kansas City, where he began his career with a large national distributor of electrical and comm/data products and services. After progressing through several positions in 9 years, Chris was then offered a position at the company’s Corporate Headquarters in Clayton, MO. While at headquarters, Chris held roles in Project and Product Management, followed by 15 years in eBusiness Integration. When a layoff ended his career with that company, Chis began exploring options for his “next career”. With the help of a career coach, Chris was encouraged to consider a career in real estate. He received his realtor license in 2017, then joined a small locally-owned brokerage in Lake Saint Louis, MO.
In June, 2020, Chris’ wife, Rev. Jennifer Long, was appointed as the Senior Pastor at Centenary United Methodist Church, prompting the family’s move to Cape Girardeau. The Longs have four children, three of whom are living, working or attending college in other parts of Missouri, and one who is a student at Cape Central High School. “We are so glad that Cape Girardeau is our new hometown,” Chris remarked. “It is a new experience for us to be downtown residents and living so close to SEMO. We look forward to meeting more of the great people who call Southeast Missouri their home.”
Chris has assisted homeowners through the listing process, including assisting with staging properties for sale—and has worked with many buyers throughout the home purchase process. Chris is passionate about developing relationships with his clients and helping them navigate all aspects of the buying and selling process. In late-Summer, 2020, Chris joined the Area Properties family of companies; as a Property Manager with Area Properties Management and a realtor with Area Properties Real Estate-River Region.
